The origin of the cyclops legend came from the Greeks confusion when they found prehistoric elephant skulls. The single cavity in the middle of the humanoid skull baffled them and their imaginations went wild. Stories of giant man eating cyclops were cemented in the culture with Euripides’s play ‘Cyclops’ from 408 B.C. As a child when I would find something new to me, weather it be an intriguing rock, an old toy, or remnants of a construction site, I could spend forever creating entire stories and worlds for something that only provided its location and looks. I’m only at the beginning of my art and design studies but I know that being able to conjure up that child like imagination is vital to creation.
